The Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO, the WHS Manager is accountable for leading the development, implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the Safety Management System across the organisation. This includes ownership of the DoneSafe platform, delivery of a structured assurance program for critical risk controls, and project managing the completion phase of a significant Enforceable Undertaking with SafeWork NSW.
This is a hands on leadership role that combines strategic system design with practical engagement in the field. You will partner closely with senior leaders, Station Managers and WHS Advisors to embed consistent, compliant and operationally relevant safety practices across geographically dispersed sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve the organisation’s Safety Management System, including governance, policies and procedures
- Project manage the execution and reporting of the Enforceable Undertaking with SafeWork NSW
- Design and implement an assurance framework that verifies critical risk controls are in place and effective
- Oversee risk management processes including hazard identification, risk assessments, audits and reviews
- Monitor compliance with WHS legislation and Macquarie Asset Management requirements
- Lead incident investigation processes to identify root causes and prevent recurrence
- Oversee safety training, inductions and ongoing education programs
- Manage WHS reporting, analytics and insights through DoneSafe
- Lead consultation, communication and engagement on safety matters across the workforce
- Oversee workers compensation, injury management and insurer relationships
- Lead and develop WHS resources across the business
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong blend of technical WHS expertise, leadership maturity and the credibility to operate at executive and operational levels.
You will ideally have:
- 10+ years’ experience in WHS roles, with at least 5 years operating as a WHS Manager in a medium or large organisation
- Demonstrated experience leading WHS systems across multiple and remote sites
- Strong working knowledge of national and state WHS legislation
- Experience with WHS software platforms, with DoneSafe highly regarded
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Environmental Science, Risk Management or a related discipline
- Post graduate qualifications or certifications such as NEBOSH or Cert IV WHS highly desirable
- Strong analytical capability and the ability to use data to drive improvement
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to partner with senior leaders
- A genuine connection to regional Australia and agricultural or operationally complex environments
- Willingness to travel interstate and to remote locations as required
- Current Driver’s Licence
