In 2026, the new $853 million ECU City Campus opens. 

As the WHS Coordinator for ECU’s Mt Lawley campus relocation to the Perth City Campus, you will play a key role in shaping the future safety and success of the university, its staff, and students.

You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders and report to the Senior School Manager of the School of Arts and Humanities (SAH).  SAH is one of ECU’s largest and most dynamic schools, renowned for its diverse programs across creative, social, and psychological disciplines— designed to inspire innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge learning.

About the Role
As Specialist WHS Coordinator, you will implement and enhance WHS practices across SAH’s specialist spaces, ensuring compliance with legislation and university policies. You’ll oversee safe operations, manage training and certification, and support innovative teaching, research, and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert WHS advice and leadership across creative, technical, and public-facing environments.
  • Align and enhance existing WHS procedures to SAH’s operational complexity.
  • Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation for high-risk equipment and multi-level infrastructure.
  • Develop and coordinate WHS planning to support safe workflows, after-hours activity, and public engagement.
  • Build WHS capability through targeted training, inductions, and proficiency systems.
  • Monitor compliance, maintenance, and certification of spaces and equipment.
  • Contribute to WHS governance, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, including psychological wellbeing and emergency preparedness.
What We’re Looking For
  • Tertiary qualification in WHS or equivalent experience.
  • High-level knowledge of WHS management systems (ISO45001) and Australian Standards.
  • Proven experience delivering WHS strategies, services, and projects. Experience in the creative arts industry is desirable.
  • Strong influencing, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and resolve complex safety issues proactively.
  • Ability to work from home November - February and then be onsite and managing the WHS of the new facility.
