The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Safety, you will be a key member of the national sfety team. The Senior Safety Business Partner will:
- Provide operational, hands on safety support across a distributed workforce
- Shape and strengthen safety capability at site and leadership level
- Drive proactive, practical safety improvement programs
- Bring subject matter expertise across occupational hygiene and higher risk operational areas
- Lead serious incident investigations and provide guidance on regulatory matters
- Help mature the organisation’s systems, processes and overall safety culture
Key Responsibilities Partnering and Influence
- Build trusted relationships with operational and support leaders
- Coach and develop leaders in safety behaviours, systems and decision making
- Support and uplift Health and Safety Representatives and WHS Committees
- Analyse data, identify trends and provide pragmatic insights
- Lead significant incident investigations and contribute to regulatory responses
- Deliver clear and engaging safety communication including alerts and lessons learnt
- Support delivery of safety strategy and preventative programs
- Conduct risk assessments, site visits and assurance activities across a national network
- Review and update policies, guidelines and safe work procedures
- Provide technical support in areas such as noise, chemicals, dust, asbestos and extreme weather
- Contribute to the transition to a new safety system and a more data driven approach
- Role model constructive and relationship centred safety leadership
- Conduct assurance reviews including critical control verification and internal audits
- Support site leaders during external audit programs
- Influence behavioural improvement through consistent engagement

You will bring:
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building capability
- Ability to influence, negotiate and coach effectively
- Experience supporting distributed operational teams
- A hands on, practical approach grounded in real operational understanding
- Comfort working in developing environments and building structure and capability
- Technical understanding of occupational hygiene areas, or the ability to identify when specialist support is required
- Hybrid work model, with a Sydney CBD office. Regular site visits expected, particularly during the first six months
- Site visits are essential for relationship building, understanding constraints, validating safe work practices and driving improvement
