  • Relocation Opportunity | Tasmania
  • Permanent Role
  • Major Infrastructure Project
  •
The Safe Step is partnering with a leading construction organisation to appoint a Senior Safety Leader to support the delivery of a landmark infrastructure project in Tasmania. This project is the first of its kind in Australia and represents the beginning of a broader national portfolio.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a permanent leadership role where safety is genuinely central to how the project is designed, mobilised and delivered. You will be involved from the front end, helping to set the benchmark for what good safety leadership looks like in a complex and high profile environment.

The initial assignment will see you based in Tasmania for approximately 18 months, after which there will be opportunities to transition onto future projects across Australia as this portfolio continues to grow.

About the Role

You will play a critical role in influencing safety outcomes across a large, high risk commercial construction environment. This role goes beyond compliance and assurance and is focused on leadership, learning and positive influence across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing strategic and operational safety leadership across the project
  • Embedding contemporary safety systems and practices from project mobilisation through delivery
  • Influencing senior leaders, project teams and contractors through strong relationships and credibility
  • Supporting a learning focused safety culture that values trust, openness and continuous improvement
  • Acting as a key safety advisor to the project leadership team

About You

You are a contemporary safety leader who is comfortable operating in complex commercial construction environments and who brings a modern view of safety to project delivery.

You will be able to demonstrate:
  • Proven experience leading safety on large scale, high risk construction or infrastructure projects
  • A contemporary and practical approach to safety, focused on influence, learning and leadership
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trust quickly
  • Confidence working at senior level and challenging constructively when required

Relocation and Location

This role is based in Tasmania and requires a genuine commitment to relocation for the duration of the initial project. Relocation support will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates currently based in New Zealand who are open to an Australian career move.
Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, relevant Australian working rights.

Why This Opportunity
  • Permanent role with long term career prospects across a growing national project portfolio
  • Opportunity to shape safety from the ground up on a significant landmark project
  • Strong organisational commitment to safety leadership
  • Full relocation support provided

If you are looking for a career defining role where you can leave a lasting legacy and be part of something genuinely new, we would love to speak with you.
