You will join a nationally recognised provider of veterinary and animal health services, operating one of Australia’s largest network of clinics and hospitals. The organisation delivers high quality, compassionate care to millions of pets each year through a broad footprint of general practice, emergency and specialty services.
Role Purpose
This role partners closely with senior leaders across veterinary service operations to strengthen health and safety capability, embed effective risk management, and improve health, safety and wellbeing outcomes across the division and wider business.
Working as a trusted advisor, you will support leaders to drive a practical, continuous improvement approach to health, safety and wellbeing and contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s broader health, safety and wellbeing strategy.
This is a hands-on, senior partnering role focused on influence, capability uplift and sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you will:
- Build health, safety and wellbeing capability across leaders and teams through coaching, support and practical application of risk management principles
- Establish yourself as a trusted HSW subject matter expert, providing visible leadership and credible advice across sites
- Drive safe systems of work, high-quality incident investigations and strong corrective actions that address root causes
- Identify operational safety risks and partner with leaders to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions
- Support the design and delivery of HSW training programs in collaboration with the Learning & Development team
- Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring learning is captured and embedded
- Contribute to the delivery of health and wellbeing initiatives that promote early intervention and a wellbeing focused culture
- Support regulatory compliance activities relevant to veterinary operations, including areas such as drug safety and radiation
- Maintain regular face to face engagement with safety champions to reinforce key priorities, build capability and strengthen safety culture across sites and contractor groups
- Recognised as a trusted and credible partner at GM and executive level
- Leaders visibly engaged in and accountable for, safety and wellbeing outcomes
- Safety and wellbeing embedded into everyday business decision making
- Measurable improvement in key injury trends and on the ground capability
- Significant experience in health, safety and wellbeing roles within complex, operational or multi-site environments
- Strong ability to influence without authority and partner effectively with senior leaders
- Pragmatic, commercially aware and focused on outcomes rather than process
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building alignment where it does not yet exist
- Executive presence and confidence to engage credibly at senior levels
