About the Organisation
This organisation is a leading multi disciplinary transport and heavy industrial services business operating across Australia and New Zealand. It provides essential services to a broad customer base and is recognised for its strong operational performance, commitment to community, and genuine focus on health and safety outcomes.
With a significant operational footprint, this role is based in Western Sydney and offers exposure to complex, high risk environments.

About the Role
Reporting to the HSE Projects Lead, this position plays a key role in a major program of work focused on reviewing, uplifting, and standardising safety systems and risk practices across the business.
You will work closely with operational leaders, subject matter experts, and established safety professionals to support the development and improvement of risk management frameworks, with a strong focus on Safe Control of Work and routine task risk assessments.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and translating existing risk documentation such as Risk Assessments, JSAs, and SWMS into consistent, activity based formats
  • Supporting and facilitating structured risk assessment workshops with operational teams
  • Partnering with frontline leaders and Business Risk Teams to validate hazards, controls, and risk ratings
  • Ensuring risk assessments align with legislative requirements, governance frameworks, and enterprise standards
  • Identifying gaps, duplication, and opportunities for improvement across safety systems and processes
  • Supporting uplift in risk capability through coaching, guidance, and practical engagement
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of safety tools, templates, and procedures
This is a hands on role in a fast paced operational environment where safety is driven through practical outcomes, strong engagement, and continuous improvement rather than compliance alone.

About You
This opportunity will suit someone who is proactive, curious, and genuinely motivated to build a long term career in health and safety.

To be successful you will bring:
  • A strong interest in WHS and operational risk management
  • Exposure to or understanding of risk assessments, JSAs, and SWMS
  • The ability to engage and communicate effectively with frontline teams and stakeholders
  • Practical thinking and a willingness to get involved in operations
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in systems, governance, and documentation quality
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (completed or in progress)
  • An understanding of WHS legislation and risk management principles will be highly regarded
