This contract role will suit a hands-on safety professional with a background in construction, heavy industry, manufacturing or high-risk project environments, who is confident working closely with project teams and contractors to maintain strong safety performance and ensure compliance with established systems.
The role will support a large project team and contractor workforce, ensuring WHS obligations are met while helping maintain a practical, proactive and solutions-focused safety culture.
About the Role
- Advise project leadership on WHS compliance and best practice under NSW legislation
- Maintain and support safety management systems, including plans, procedures, audits and consultation processes
- Deliver inductions and oversee training, competency and contractor compliance records
- Coordinate audits, inspections, meetings and reporting, including analysis of safety performance data
- Support contractor management through audits, mentoring and ongoing guidance
- Assist with incident management, investigations and reporting requirements
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors and construction teams to ensure due diligence activities are completed
- Identify gaps in compliance, review audit outcomes and provide practical direction to keep the project aligned with safety requirements
- Major project environment with a core project team and contractor workforce that will ramp up over time
- Working across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and commissioning scopes
- Established safety systems already in place — the role focuses on supporting the team to stay aligned with them
- Strong existing safety culture, requiring an experienced professional to guide and maintain standards
- Experience in construction, heavy industry, manufacturing or similar high-risk environments
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and contractor management
- Comfortable working within structured safety systems and project environments
- Able to coach, mentor and influence operational teams and contractors
- Confident reviewing audit data, identifying trends and resolving compliance gaps
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently
- Practical and solutions-focused approach to safety
