ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the OHS Manager, you will provide specialist health and safety advice and support within a large and complex healthcare environment. The role has a strong stakeholder focus, partnering with leaders, managers, Health and Safety Representatives and employees to build capability and support positive safety outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate incident investigations, hazard identification and risk assessments, identifying root causes and appropriate controls to prevent recurrence.
- Coach and support managers and HSRs to strengthen local OHS practices and build safety capability.
- Provide specialist advice on OHS legislation, regulatory obligations and the practical management of workplace health and safety risks.
- Conduct workplace audits and inspections and work with stakeholders to address identified risks and areas of non-compliance.
- Support effective consultation through Health and Safety Committees, HSRs and other stakeholder forums.
- Contribute to OHS projects, working groups and broader health and safety initiatives.
You will be an experienced Health and Safety professional who enjoys being visible within the business, building relationships and working closely with operational stakeholders. You will bring a practical and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to coach and influence across a diverse and complex environment.
You will ideally bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline or a Certificate IV in WHS
- Experience in an OHS Advisor, Health & Safety Advisor or similar role.
- Sound knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with HSRs and formal consultation structures.
