The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to design and implement a forward-looking Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy while maintaining a strong influence at operations level. You will be instrumental in shaping the organisation’s safety culture, lifting maturity, and embedding consistent, high-impact practices across all sites.
You will:
- Lead and mentor a capable Health & Safety team, fostering collaboration and capability development
- Champion safety initiatives that balance strategic priorities with operational realities
- Strengthen governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks
- Engage directly with teams on the ground to understand challenges and drive meaningful change
- Deliver insights and reporting that influence organisational decision-making
- Shape practical solutions that make a tangible difference to employee wellbeing and safety performance
- Use your previous experience to develop a psychosocial strategy and embed it across a geographically dispersed workforce
- Create and implement a national strategy that enhances safety culture and operational outcomes
- Embed proactive processes and practices across sites, improving incident management and follow-through
- Develop and empower your team, building capability and confidence
- Bridge the gap between strategy and day-to-day operations, ensuring safety is part of the way people work
You are a highly credible, strategic, and hands-on HSE leader with:
- Proven experience in Health & Safety leadership and management across multi-site, high-risk operations
- Ability to influence organisational culture and embed accountability at all levels
- A track record of designing and implementing safety strategies with real operational impact
- Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Confidence in translating strategy into practical, frontline solutions
- Strong understanding of high-risk activities and the need to be visible and engaging with a blue-collar workforce
- Relevant qualifications in WHS
