The National Health and Safety Manager role offers the opportunity to take ownership of safety across a growing, contractor led construction business operating nationally. This is a newly created position designed to move safety beyond a largely compliance driven function into a more mature, structured, and strategically embedded capability.
You will play a critical role in designing and implementing fit for purpose frameworks, strengthening governance, and ensuring safety is consistently applied across a dispersed portfolio of projects and jurisdictions.
You will:
- Lead and mentor a developing Health and Safety capability, with scope to build the team over time. Only a small team currently.
- Design and implement scalable systems and frameworks aligned to business growth
- Strengthen contractor management practices and ensure consistency across all states
- Partner closely with operational leaders to improve safety performance across projects
- Deliver oversight and insights that support informed decision making at senior level
- Influence and coach leaders to drive shared ownership of safety outcomes
- Establish and embed a national safety framework aligned to a contractor based delivery model
- Improve system maturity and governance across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Build robust subcontractor management processes at scale
- Strengthen alignment between project delivery and organisational safety expectations
- Support capability uplift through coaching, engagement, and leadership influence
You are a commercially aware, pragmatic, and highly credible safety leader who is comfortable operating in a fast paced, growth orientated environment.
You bring:
- Proven senior Health and Safety leadership experience within construction or high risk environments
- Strong knowledge of multi state WHS legislation and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing contractor and subcontractor safety at scale
- A track record of designing and embedding safety systems and frameworks
- The ability to operate strategically while remaining connected to operational realities
- Strong coaching, influencing, and stakeholder engagement capability
- Relevant qualifications in WHS
- Location flexible across Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane (Brisbane preferred)
- Regular domestic travel required
