About the Role
With a focus on quality, innovation, and operational excellence, the business is now seeking a HSEQ Specialist to help drive safety, quality, and environmental performance during this exciting period of growth.
This hands-on role will see you partnering with operational leaders to embed robust safety systems and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll be based in Mackay with regular day trips to mine sites across the Bowen Basin, as well as travel to the NSW and NT as required.
Key responsibilities includes
- Developing and maintaining HSEQ policies, procedures, safe work instructions, and risk assessments
- Conducting audits, investigations (including ICAM), and ensuring timely close-out of corrective actions
- Coaching and mentoring teams on risk management practices, JHAs, and SWMS
- Managing and maintaining safety data and systems
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and training across operational teams
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and ISO standards
- Supporting return-to-work programs and wellbeing initiatives
You’re a confident and capable HSEQ professional who thrives in fast-paced, operational environments. You enjoy working on the ground with teams, building relationships, and driving positive change.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar HSEQ role within mining, heavy industrial services, or related sectors
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification
- Sound knowledge of legislative compliance, risk management, and ISO frameworks
- Experience delivering training, facilitating audits, and conducting investigations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and coach at all levels
- A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach
