Our client is an established and growing essential services business operating across multiple sites, providing critical services to customers across a diverse operational environment.
With a busy workforce, multiple operational locations and a combination of transport, plant and site based activities, health and safety is an important part of how the business operates. The organisation is continuing to strengthen its approach to HSEQ, creating an opportunity for a Coordinator or developing Advisor to join the team and play a key role in that journey.
This is a broad, hands on position with exposure across operational health and safety, risk, incidents, compliance, audits, systems and improvement projects. There is plenty to do and plenty to learn, making it well suited to someone who wants more responsibility and broader experience.
Importantly, you will work closely with an exceptional leader who is approachable, supportive and genuinely invested in developing people. You will have someone to learn from and bounce ideas off, while being given the autonomy to build confidence and take greater ownership over time.
What You'll Do
- Support day to day health, safety, environment and compliance activities across operational sites
- Work with operational teams on risk assessments, controls and safety improvements
- Support incident investigations and ensure actions are followed through
- Coordinate workplace inspections, audits and compliance activities
- Support the continued development and implementation of HSEQ systems and processes
- Work closely with leaders, supervisors and frontline teams to strengthen safety engagement
- Assist with training, injury management and broader HSEQ initiatives
- Maintain safety documentation, records and compliance requirements
- Help work through existing compliance priorities and keep actions moving
- Contribute to projects and improvement initiatives as the safety function continues to develop
- Experience in a health and safety role, ideally within an operational environment
- A relevant health and safety qualification
- An approachable, practical style and the confidence to build relationships across the business
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to work through competing priorities
- Curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn and develop
- Initiative and the confidence to take ownership while remaining open to guidance
- Good judgement and the ability to understand what needs attention first
- Comfort balancing time in the operation with compliance and administration
- A genuine interest in people and improving safety outcomes
- The ability to work through ambiguity without needing every process or answer already mapped out
Why Consider This Opportunity?
There are two real drawcards to this opportunity: the leader and the breadth of the role.
You will work with a highly regarded health and safety leader who genuinely enjoys developing people and will give you the support, guidance and exposure to keep building your career.
You will also join a health and safety function that is continuing to evolve. Not everything is finished or perfectly established, and that is part of the opportunity. You will be able to get involved in a wide range of work, contribute ideas and build experience across areas you may not currently have exposure to.
