The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health and Safety professional to support a major energy generation site in the Surat Basin. Working closely with the Regional Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of health and safety management systems. The role also provides direct support to permanent contractors, ensuring full compliance with site standards and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the site’s Health and Safety Management System
• Prepare and facilitate workshops, toolbox talks, and safety communication forums
• Lead or assist in incident investigations, report writing, and implementation of corrective actions
• Conduct health and safety audits, reviews, and field inspections
• Assist with WorkCover claims management and Return to Work planning
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation within the site’s systems
• Coordinate and support health and safety improvement projects in the field
• Engage and mentor personnel to promote best practice and strengthen safety culture
• Conduct risk assessments, HazObs, and in-field safety assessments
• Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and manuals
• Coordinate internal and external training requirements for employees and contractors
• Provide visible safety leadership during outage and shutdown periods (day and night shifts)
About You
You are an experienced safety professional who thrives in operational environments and enjoys working closely with teams on the ground. You bring practical knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, coupled with strong communication and organisational skills. You’re confident engaging with personnel at all levels, promoting safe behaviours, and ensuring compliance across complex operations.
You will bring:
• A qualification in Workplace Health and Safety (Certificate IV or higher)
• A minimum of four years’ experience in a high-risk, blue-collar environment
• The ability to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders to drive a mature safety culture
• Experience managing subcontractors, ideally within shutdown or outage environments
• Sound computer literacy, including MS Excel and other Microsoft applications
