An established Australian organisation operating across multiple production and processing sites is seeking an experienced and people focused Health, Safety and Environment Business Partner to support operational teams across NSW.
The business is progressing through a cultural shift from a compliance driven safety model to a more values led, behaviour focused approach. This role plays a key part in enabling leaders to take strong ownership of risk, simplify safety practices and build capability right across the organisation.
About the role
Based at Kooragang Island in Newcastle, you will partner with operational leaders across a diverse group of sites, including a large site in Newcastle, and 3 others in regional NSW and northern Sydney.
This is a hands on, relationship driven role where you will spend time on site, coaching leaders, influencing decisions and helping teams improve the way they identify, manage and communicate health, safety and environmental risks.
You will be part of a supportive national HSE team and work closely with environmental and injury management specialists.
Key responsibilities
- Build capability in site leaders to confidently manage their own HSE responsibilities
- Strengthen HSE culture through coaching, training and practical support
- Develop engaging and outcome focused HSE committees
- Provide insights from data to support decision making and improvement programs
- Lead or support incident investigations and coach leaders through the process
- Assist with risk assessments, assurance activities and regulatory interactions
- Support the implementation of behaviour and leadership based HSE programs
- Collaborate with colleagues across HSE, operations and support functions
You will succeed in this role if you enjoy working closely with people, influencing positive change and improving the way operational teams think about safety and environment. You will bring:
- Strong operational HSE partnering experience in industrial, processing, logistics or manufacturing environments
- Well developed coaching and influencing ability
- Strong communication, relationship building and problem solving skills
- Practical understanding of WHS and environmental legislation
- Experience with incident investigations, risk management and safety systems
- Confidence travelling between sites and working in varied operational settings

This position is based in Newcastle. Some regular travel will be required at times so a vehicle component is included in the package.
