About the organisation
Safety is taken seriously here, not as a slogan, but as a core operational discipline. The organisation operates in a number of locations. Safety, wellbeing and risk management are critical to how work is planned and executed.
The business continues to invest in safety leadership, capability and smarter ways of managing risk, with a strong focus on leader accountability, practical risk management and continuous improvement across operations.

About the role
This is a genuinely operational Health Safety Wellbeing (HSW) Business Partner role, embedded within service delivery operations across Sydney.
Partnering closely with operational leaders, supervisors and frontline teams, you will play a key role in embedding the safety and wellbeing management system at a local level. This is not a desk based compliance role. The focus is on real risk reduction, effective safe systems of work and strengthening leader capability in safety and wellbeing.
You will provide hands on support to operations, influence how work is planned and performed in high risk environments, and contribute to the delivery of divisional safety and wellbeing priorities. You will be supported by an experienced and collaborative safety team, with the trust and autonomy to exercise professional judgement.

What you will be doing
  • Partnering with operational leaders to manage and mitigate health, safety and wellbeing risks across high hazard operations
  • Supporting the delivery of the enterprise and divisional safety and wellbeing strategy, frameworks and operational plans
  • Providing hands on coaching to leaders and supervisors to build safety leadership capability and accountability
  • Supporting the implementation, embedment and ongoing improvement of the safety and wellbeing management system
  • Ensuring safe systems of work are implemented, monitored and applied in day to day operations
  • Leading and supporting incident response, investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Supporting change management activities associated with new systems, programs and safety initiatives
About you
You are a credible, hands on safety professional who enjoys being visible in the operation and working alongside leaders and frontline teams.
You understand how to influence in complex, operations led environments and can balance standing firm on critical safety matters while remaining pragmatic and solutions focused. You bring a modern, practical approach to safety and wellbeing, focused on learning, engagement and making work safer in reality, not just on paper.
You are comfortable having robust conversations, building trust with experienced leaders and long tenured workers, and operating effectively in a dynamic environment that requires sound judgement and calm decision making.

What you will bring
  • Formal qualification in health and safety or a related discipline
  • Minimum five years practical experience in a safety and wellbeing role within a complex or high risk environment
  • Strong working knowledge of safety and wellbeing management systems, risk management and WHS legislation
  • Experience partnering effectively with operational and blue collar teams
  • Strong capability in incident response, investigations and follow up actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Highly developed organisation, prioritisation and problem solving skills
Why join
This is an opportunity to join a stable, industrial organisation where safety professionals are respected, supported and listened to.
You will work in a role with genuine operational exposure, influence and autonomy, with the ability to make a visible difference in a complex, high risk environments. The organisation invests in its people, values professional judgement, and offers long term career opportunities rather than a short term compliance role.

This is a hybrid role, with work from home days balanced with time out on various sites and head office office in Western Sydney. You will have travel reimbursement for visiting sites thoroughout Sydney Metro and some NSW locations.
