About the Client

The Safe Step is partnering with a leading housing provider supporting a large and diverse substantial property portfolio throughout Sydney. The organisation is currently undertaking a significant transformation of its health, safety and wellbeing function. Following investment in leadership, systems and capability, the focus has shifted towards embedding a more consistent and mature approach to health and safety across the business.
  
The successful candidate will join at a pivotal point in the journey, helping to build capability, strengthen governance, improve operational consistency and support a modern health and safety function that partners closely with both property and operational teams.
   
Key Responsibilities:  
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of health and safety professionals
  • Support the continued uplift of the organisation's health and safety maturity and capability
  • Drive consistency across safety systems, processes, reporting and governance
  • Build strong partnerships with housing, property and corporate stakeholders
  • Improve contractor management and operational risk controls across the portfolio
  • Lead incident management, investigations and corrective action programs
  • Support psychosocial risk management and wellbeing initiatives
  • Monitor compliance obligations and support continuous improvement activities
  • Contribute to the broader organisational transformation agenda through practical and sustainable health and safety solutions
About You:

You are an experienced health and safety manager who enjoys building capability, influencing stakeholders and improving systems.

You are comfortable operating in environments where change is underway and understand how to balance strategic improvement with operational realities.

Most importantly, you bring a practical approach and can help bring people on the journey while creating greater clarity, accountability and consistency.
   
You'll Bring:
  • Experience leading health and safety teams within complex operational environments
  • Strong knowledge of safety management systems, governance and risk management
  • Experience driving health and safety improvement, cultural change and organisational uplift
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
  • Experience supporting contractor and operational risk programs
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity and lead through change
  • A collaborative, practical and solutions focused approach
