About the Client

The Safe Step is partnering with a leading housing provider to appoint a Health & Safety Business Partner.

With a large property portfolio, field based operations and a diverse workforce, the organisation is continuing to strengthen its approach to health and safety.
Having invested in its safety function, the focus is on embedding consistent ways of working, building leadership capability and further developing its WHS Management System across the business.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll work closely with leaders to manage operational risk, improve safety performance and contribute to the ongoing maturity of the function.

The Opportunity

You'll partner with operational leaders to provide practical WHS advice and support across a varied portfolio.

This is a hands on role where no two days are the same. You'll lead incident investigations, facilitate risk assessments, undertake site inspections and audits, support contractor assurance and coach leaders to strengthen capability and accountability.

You'll also play an important role in maintaining and continuously improving the organisation's WHS Management System, ensuring it remains practical, compliant and embedded across the business. Working across multiple stakeholder groups, you'll help drive consistency, strengthen governance and identify opportunities to improve how health and safety is managed.

You'll Be Responsible For
  • Partnering with leaders to strengthen health and safety capability and performance.
  • Coaching and influencing stakeholders to embed practical safety practices.
  • Leading and supporting incident investigations and ensuring meaningful corrective actions.
  • Supporting risk management, assurance and compliance activities.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across systems and processes.
  • Building strong relationships across the business to drive positive safety outcomes.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of safety frameworks, programs and initiatives.
About You

You'll be an experienced WHS professional who enjoys partnering with the business and building strong working relationships.

You combine sound technical knowledge with a practical, solutions focused approach and are comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels. Whether you're supporting leaders through operational challenges, managing complex incidents or identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes, you're someone who balances compliance with commercial and operational realities.

You'll Bring
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a WHS role within a complex, multi-site or operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
  • Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Exposure to contractor safety management and assurance processes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Experience using WHS systems, reporting and performance data to drive improvements.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and relationship building skills.
Why Join?
  • Join an organisation continuing to invest in its health and safety capability.
  • Broad portfolio with exposure across operations, property and contractors.
  • Opportunity to influence systems, governance and operational safety outcomes.
  • Collaborative leadership team that values partnership and continuous improvement.
  • Hybrid working model.
  • Purpose led organisation making a positive impact in the community.
