Our client is seeking a highly experienced Health & Safety Business Partner to support the national operations of one of Australia's leading retail brands.

This is a highly visible business partnering role with a seat at the senior leadership table. This role is for a credible and commercially minded safety professional who enjoys working closely with senior leaders to support, advise and coach, while remaining connected to frontline operations.

You will work as an embedded member of the brand leadership team, partnering with General Managers to drive improved safety performance, strengthen leadership capability and deliver practical improvements across a large national store network.

While initially aligned to one brand, this role operates with a broader Group mindset and has enterprise level connections. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Health and Safety Business Partners across other brands and contribute to Group wide initiatives, projects and improvements.

This is not a traditional safety advisor role. You will not be expected to do safety for the business. Instead, you will provide the advice, coaching, challenge and practical tools that enable operational leaders to own and deliver safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with senior leaders to drive proactive safety outcomes
  • Provide trusted advice and practical support across operational teams
  • Translate safety strategy into practical, operational actions
  • Coach leaders to build safety capability, ownership and accountability
  • Challenge and influence leaders to strengthen safety performance and culture
  • Conduct store visits and partner with Regional and Area Managers
  • Identify risks, trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Build leadership capability through coaching and mentoring
Position Skills and Qualifications:
  • Formal qualifications in Health and Safety, WHS, OHS or similar
  • 5+ years' Health and Safety experience, ideally in a Business Partner or senior advisory role
  • Experience in complex, multi site or geographically dispersed operations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to influence senior leaders
  • Proven ability to coach, challenge and build leadership capability
  • Strong knowledge of safety culture and risk management
  • Confident, credible and comfortable respectfully pushing back when required
  • Autonomous, practical and commercially minded
  • Experience in retail or a similar large operational environment with large volumes of geographically dispersed sites is desirable
The Ideal Person:
You will be an experienced and credible safety professional who can comfortably move between the store floor and the senior leadership table.
You will have the confidence and experience to hold your own in robust conversations, challenge thinking when required and provide practical recommendations that leaders can understand and implement.

Importantly, you will enjoy coaching others rather than doing the work for them. You will understand how to build safety capability through operational leaders and know how to influence outcomes across a large and geographically dispersed business.

Join the Team:
This is an excellent opportunity to take on a genuine Health & Safety Business Partner role where you will have the autonomy, trust and visibility to make a real impact.

With a strong focus on lifting capability, strengthening consistency and supporting leaders to take ownership of safety, this role will suit someone who enjoys being operationally connected while also having a genuine seat at the table.
