About the Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Advisor to provide hands-on, practical support across multiple sites within the community care sector.
This is not a desk-bound role. You will be actively partnering with site managers, support workers, team leaders, and corporate teams to enhance safety systems, promote compliance, and support ongoing improvement, particularly in environments that provide care and services to vulnerable individuals, including people with disability.
This role offers real variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to directly influence health and safety outcomes in frontline care settings.
About You
You are a collaborative safety professional who brings both empathy and practical insight to your work. You understand the complexities and risks of supporting people in community and home-based care environments and are driven to build a strong, inclusive safety culture through education, influence and coaching—not compliance alone.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site visits and WHS inspections across a range of residential and community-based care settings
- Identify and assess safety risks, working closely with operational teams to implement person-centred, practical controls
- Assist with the completion of risk assessments, particularly for off-site client activities and community programs
- Support consistent incident reporting and investigation processes, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of corrective actions
- Deliver or coordinate safety training programs including fire safety, evacuation, manual handling and first aid
- Provide hands-on coaching and guidance to leaders and frontline staff on safe work practices, especially in home-based and remote settings
- Collaborate with HR and People & Culture teams to support early intervention and recovery at work
- Participate in WHS committees and consultation forums, encouraging proactive staff engagement
- Foster a culture of accountability, care and continuous improvement in all aspects of health and safety
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline
- At least 3 years’ experience in WHS, ideally within the community care, aged care, disability services or broader health and human services sectors
- Strong working knowledge of WHS and Workers’ Compensation legislation (NSW and relevant jurisdictions)
- Demonstrated success in driving safety performance and improving safety culture in complex or multi-site environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and support a wide range of stakeholders
- High levels of emotional intelligence and cultural awareness
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and travel across the region
- Current driver’s licence is essential
- Make a meaningful impact across a sector that supports vulnerable members of the community
- Be part of a values-led organisation that puts people first
- Work within a highly collaborative team committed to practical, people-focused safety solutions
- Enjoy autonomy, variety and the opportunity to develop professionally in a purpose-driven environment
If you are looking for a role where your WHS expertise truly makes a difference, where you are not just ticking boxes, but helping to shape safer workplaces for frontline staff and those they support, we would love to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
