Our client, a leading international professional services organisation, is seeking a motivated and experienced Health & Safety leader to join their expanding Auckland CBD office. This is a pivotal national role where you will combine operational, commercial, and leadership responsibilities to deliver outstanding health and safety outcomes for a diverse client base.
About the Role
As Head of Health & Safety (NZ), you will provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership to a team of consultants and advisers. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and business leaders to strengthen health and safety culture, compliance and performance, while identifying opportunities for service and business growth.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, coaching and mentoring an office-based team to deliver high-quality health and safety outcomes.
- Acting as the senior point of contact for clients, providing expert advice and practical solutions to enhance workplace safety.
- Driving proactive client engagement and strengthening long-term commercial relationships.
- Supporting the development of safety resources, tools and training, ensuring they are practical, accurate and easy for clients to apply.
- Enhancing service quality through structured coaching, training and quality assurance.
- Analysing performance data to identify trends, opportunities and improvements.
- Supporting internal health and safety initiatives across New Zealand in alignment with ANZ strategy.
You are an experienced safety professional with proven leadership skills and the ability to balance commercial acumen with technical expertise. Ideally you will bring:
- A strong background in health and safety, with experience in high-risk industries (aviation, manufacturing, transport, local government or similar).
- Tertiary-level qualification in Health and Safety (Diploma or higher).
- At least 5 years’ experience in WHS/H&S roles, including recent team management experience.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence in client-facing roles.
- The ability to coach and inspire others while staying calm, composed and solutions-focused under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) for reporting and analysis.
