About the Client

The Safe Step is partnering with a leading community housing provider supporting a large and diverse customer base across a substantial property portfolio. The organisation is strengthening its operating model and investing in a contemporary, integrated approach to safety. This newly created role consolidates customer safety, employee safety, building and fire compliance into a cohesive function with clear governance and measurable outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities:- 
  • Design and embed an enterprise wide safety operating model integrating customer and employee safety
  • Lead customer centred safety across housing and property operations, lifting performance and maturity
  • Strengthen compliance across building and fire safety, workers compensation and return to work
  • Oversee risk, incident and emergency management, audit programs, assurance and reporting
  • Build systems, analytics and data capability to inform decisions and target improvement
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership and the board on safety, risk and compliance
  • Develop competency based training for frontline and support teams
  • Lead, coach and structure a high performing safety team across multiple locations
  • Engage effectively with regulators, auditors and external stakeholders
About You

This is a pivotal senior appointment with a mandate to redefine how safety is governed, measured and experienced, across both employee and customer environments.

You will architect the operating model, build capability, establish performance metrics and elevate safety maturity across the enterprise. Reporting to the CCO, this role holds significant influence in shaping strategy, risk governance and organisational culture.

You’ll Bring:-
  • Proven senior leadership in health, safety and wellbeing with exposure to property and asset compliance (preferred) 
  • Strong technical depth across health and safety, regulatory frameworks and governance
  • Experience delivering health and safety uplift in complex, customer focused or asset intensive environments
  • Demonstrated change leadership with the ability to influence, simplify and set clear metrics
  • Confidence operating with ambiguity through discovery, design and implementation phases
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and sound judgement
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
